First screenshots of Ico HD on PS3?
16 CommentsPosted by Patrick Steen on September 2, 2010 under PlayStation 3
Are these the first screenshots of Ico HD? Or what we expect to be the 'Team Ico Collection'? We were hoping to see Team Ico's first PlayStation 3 game, The Last Guardian, at the Tokyo Games Show but it's not on Sony's list. We hope they're just bluffing, because Fumito Ueda was showing the game off just a day ago. He was showing it off to developer's at CEDEC, Japan's developer's conference -... more. -

Earlier in the year we asked you for your questions to be sent to Naughty Dog. We had a huge response and so since then the Uncharted developer and myself have been sifting through the questions to produce an epic interview that's so long, we've had to split it into two parts. This is part one, where we talk to Naughty Dog's Community Strategist Arne Meyer about Uncharted 2's success, the studi... more. -

So what's Naughty Dog working on next, and on which platforms? The PlayStation 3, the PSP? The Dog's explain that they still see plenty of mileage in the Uncharted universe and would love to bring fans more of the series and its characters. In our exclusive interview with Naughty Dog, I asked them whether we'll find out more about Nathan Drake's family and back story. The studio's community str... more. -

The PlayStation 3's games will soon be singing and dancing in 3D (if you can afford the TV and glasses) with many jumping aboard the motion control band wagon with PlayStation Move. So what about our beloved Uncharted developer Naughty Dog? Will their next PS3 game support 3D and/or PlayStation Move? The Dog's told us here at PlayStation University. When we asked whether we could see the next N... more. -

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves won so many awards that Naughty Dog has struggled to find the room to store them. With so many games getting Game of the Year editions, isn't it about time that the definitive game of 2009 was given the same gift? In our exclusive interview, Naughty Dog reveals that they're definitely interested in releasing one. When we asked Naughty Dog's community strategist Arne... more. -

So with the announcement of Sony's latest financial results came an update on the console sales race. As reported in a previous story, the gap between the PS3 and Xbox 360 is now only 3.6 million units. But how did the PS3 achieve it? We'd thought we'd update our comparison to Microsoft's financial year. Last week I told you that the PS3 had already outsold the entire Xbox 360's 2010 fiscal-yea... more. -
PS3 has outsold 360’s 2010 with 3 months to spare
14 CommentsPosted by Patrick Steen on July 22, 2010 under PlayStation 3
With Microsoft releasing its end of fiscal 2010 results, we can see how Sony's PlayStation 3 has done in relation to the Xbox 360. Surprisingly, despite strong sales in the US, the 360 has already been beaten by the PS3 with three months to spare. We've already seen Sony's end of year results. Their fiscal-year ended in March and the PS3 had sold 13 million units, spurred on by a price cut and... more. -
Microsoft Exec: PlayStation Move is Sony’s HD-DVD
17 CommentsPosted by Patrick Steen on July 19, 2010 under PlayStation 3
D'oh - this just a lovely bit of bad PR. According to Microsoft's Xbox exec for the Netherlands, Sony's motion control efforts are about as sincere as Microsoft's little foray into HD-DVD. Sony doesn't care about PlayStation Move according to the Microsoft exec (oh, and ex-Sony PlayStation manager by the way). Microsoft's Paul Naber told Dutch site Bashers (via Spong): "I'm convinced that Move... more. -
NPD June: PS3 hardware sales up 85%
5 CommentsPosted by Patrick Steen on July 15, 2010 under PlayStation 3
The Xbox 360 is this month's big winner in the US, with NPD results showing an impressive 88% year-on-year increase for the console. Naturally, it was all due to Microsoft's new slim/short model, spurring sales on its home turf. But the PlayStation 3 also did well, selling over 300,000 units - representing an 85% increase in sales compared to the same time last year. Sony has made comment that ... more. -
Is this Gran Turismo 5 or real-life? [UPDATE]
47 CommentsPosted by Patrick Steen on July 6, 2010 under PS3 News, PlayStation 3
Gran Turismo 5 is certainly shaping up to be one hell of a sim racer. Coming to the PlayStation 3 this November, the game's premium cars approach reality, so we thought we'd give you a quick little test to see if you could tell GT5 from reality. GT5's premium cars are a site to behold - even if its standard cars a little less impressive. The game's graphics make comparing it with reality very h... more. -
Ex-Sony CEO: PS4 out in two to three years
12 CommentsPosted by Patrick Steen on July 6, 2010 under PlayStation 3
The PlayStation 3 may only just be hitting its stride, but previous Sony Europe CEO David Reeves has claimed that its successor isn't too far away. Whether he's talking from insider knowledge, or simply winging it, is a matter of debate. When asked about when he thought the PlayStation 4 and 'Xbox 720' would be out, Reeves (now Capcom Europe's COO) told GamesIndustry.biz: "Two to three years,... more. -
EA: PlayStation 3 ‘on fire’
5 CommentsPosted by Patrick Steen on June 28, 2010 under PlayStation 3
EA has spotted the PS3 resurgence, bringing exclusive content to the console for a number of its games. In fact the publisher thinks Sony's console is 'on fire'. Not literally 'on fire' though - unless you've suffered the YLOD and have put your PS3's motherboard in the oven to fix it (we don't recommend or condone this action) - figuratively. EA's COO John Schappert backs up the appearance of t... more.
