Is this Gran Turismo 5 or real-life? [UPDATE]
47 CommentsPosted by Patrick Steen on July 6, 2010 under PS3 News, PlayStation 3
Gran Turismo 5 is certainly shaping up to be one hell of a sim racer. Coming to the PlayStation 3 this November, the game's premium cars approach reality, so we thought we'd give you a quick little test to see if you could tell GT5 from reality. GT5's premium cars are a site to behold - even if its standard cars a little less impressive. The game's graphics make comparing it with reality very h... more. -
GT5 standard cars will NOT have cockpit view

Ok, the speculation has to end. Numerous confused posts on the matter of whether Gran Turismo 5's 800+ standard cards will or will not have a cockpit camera view. An update to the official Gran Turismo website has put those questions to bed. The vehicles in Gran Turismo 5 come in two classes - premium and standard. The premium cars, all 200+ of them, are insanely detailed PS4 quality vehicles. ... more. -
GT5’s standard cars just upscaled GT4 models

Gran Turismo 5 is set to be the racing simulator of the generation. It's so feature full that it'll surely push the limits of a Blu-ray disc. As we've already discussed, the game's premium cars really take things to a new graphical level. They're hyper-realistic. But they only consist of 20% of GT5's vehicles - the other 80% are what Polyphony Digital call "standard" cars. These have been brought ... more. -

Sony has finally announced the release date for Gran Turismo 5. During Sony's E3 Conference, they announced the release date for Polyphony Digital's big racer. The game will be fully playable in 3D and finally, it'll be out very soon. New footage was shown of the GT5, but we didn't care. What we wanted to know was a release date. We got one. Gran Turismo 5 releases for the PlayStation 3 on Nove... more. -
Gran Turismo 5’s Menus, UI, Driver Names & Gameplay

A Gran Turismo 5 release date will be making its way to our screens this E3. That's a fact. Whether it'll stick is be another question, but we sure hope so. What we really want to know about the game is its ins-and-outs. How many tracks actually are there? Will all cars have a damage model? The Polyphony Digital and Sony press team hasn't done the best job at making these metrics clear. We can't p... more. -

Man Furismo Jive. It's all the rage in the future, tearing its way through living rooms as it takes over PS3 gamer's lives. It's the game that's been on its way for what feels like forever, but soon we'll be blessed. Polyphony Digital's game could be out before the snow hits the ground. Hell, it's the release period we imagined, but with LittleBigPlanet 2 scheduled for Winter 2010, it's good to... more. -
GT5 finally nails sense of speed
29 CommentsPosted by Patrick Steen on May 19, 2010 under PS3 News, PlayStation 3
Gran Turismo, and racing simulators in general, have struggled to nail the sense of speed so common in arcade racing games and real-life racing. Even Gran Turismo 5 didn't seem to have made progress in this area, but the latest footage puts this issue to bed. In a video of the GT5 Nürburgring 24-hour circuit demo, a lucky gamer takes a Lexus out for a spin. Using the game's new professional dr... more. -
GT5’s attention to detail is unbelievable

Man Furismo Jive. It's Kevin Butler's next advertisement project and boy, are we pleased? That gives us hope that not only will we see plenty of Gran Turismo 5 at E3, but also that the game will finally come out this year. To celebrate we thought we'd highlight the reason why the game is taking Polyphony Digital so long -- the studio's attention to detail. Check out the following screenshot. A... more. -
This is how Gran Turismo 5 should sound
12 CommentsPosted by Patrick Steen on April 12, 2010 under PlayStation 3
If you've been listening carefully for the arrival of Gran Turismo 5, you'd better hope this is the sound you'll hear. When Polyphony Digital's game eventually races round the corner, it would be nice if it sounds as good as it looks. In fact, we'd be super GT happy if the following examples could be achieved. But in a way we hope that Polyphony isn't listening, because we'd hate to take the bl... more. -
Sony Japan pins GT5 release to October/November [UPDATE]
13 CommentsPosted by Patrick Steen on March 15, 2010 under PlayStation 3
We told you that a release date for Gran Turismo 5 was coming soon and now Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has given another hint as to when that is. The game was reportedly delayed from a March 2010 release in Japan until just a month later, and though this still may be correct (though it was most likely a ghastly mistranslation), a recent update on Sony Japan's website about Polyphony Digit... more. -
Apple Works icon spotted in Gran Turismo 5
8 CommentsPosted by Patrick Steen on February 16, 2010 under PlayStation 3
Wait, what? In an eagerness to spot new icons in Gran Turismo 5's HUD (is there a weather option in the race settings box?) an odd illegal alien has been caught. An Apple Works icon. Seeing is believing. In between the Settings and Weather icons on the latest images of Gran Turismo 5's HUD is an Apple Works icon. If this isn't a placeholder image, what does it signify? GT5 is going to the Apple... more. -
New GT5 footage shows improved detail and textures

The GT Academy finals are currently underway and one advantage for us mere mortals (who don't quite have the skills of these top racing gamers) is that we get to have a look at the latest build of Gran Turismo 5. Sure, many us played the Time Trial for the GT Academy, but we understand that much of the graphics engine wasn't updated from GT5: Prologue, only the physics were. So with the followi... more.
