It’s not long until God of War III is released, with March 16th almost upon us we’ve been waiting for a more lengthy peak at the PlayStation 3 exclusive apart from the teasing Vengeance trailer and the ageing E3 demo; which is now available for everyone to download from the PlayStation Store.
Gametrailers TV has been awarded the exclusive, with a special episode featuring a whole host of new gameplay footage of Sony Santa Monica’s PS3 baby. Now, I’m sure you’re wondering if you’re going to be spoiled by what you’ll see if you take a gander below. Although there’s a chance, since most of the episode is filled with unseen footage, we can also tell you that there’s only about two per cent of the game in the following videos. Sony Santa Monica is holding back much more for March 16th in the US. And remember it’s all in-game, there’s no CGI to fool you.

lol K1ing this game screams this generation, same with Uncharted 2, Its just that 360 games and some games like Lair and Heavenly Sword just lower the bar for this generation, Games like God of War 3 and Uncharted 2 as well as Heavy Rain, Mag are true examples o what games should be in THIS Generation.

I wouldn’t lump Heavenly Sword in with LAIR – the former is a very good game, with some of the best graphics on the system – and still the best facial animation. It was just too short. If you haven’t played it, rent it or buy it.

@Patrick Steen I have Heavenly sword, But in my opinion I felt that game did not represent what a next gen game should be, Heavenly sword had too many repetitive actions and battles and its graphics were just average ( even alot of multiplats looked better. On the other Hand God of War 3 is completely next gen, unlike most games where you just mash square and triangle, God of War 3 introduces a fighting system where you have to somewhat plan your strategies out. At the same time its technological standpoint is truly great, spanning over 10+ hours of gameplay with no loading at all and it has pretty awesome graphics XD

cannot say abt LAIR. But i completely agree with patrick that heavenly sword is one of the best looking game. compare it to any game that generation, i believe hs graphics were on par with uc1, u cannot compare uc2 to it. if hs2 is in development i m sure it will b the best looking on ps3

Killzone 2 looks better than Uncharted 2 in my opinion. Maybe U2 has a better overall art direction, but I think Killzone 2 is “bigger” and more flashier.
GOW III seems to be the perfect blend of U2 art direction and KZ2 feeling. BTW, I’m dissapointed we didn’t get a newer version of the demo, with that beautiful motion blur and whatnot from the latest videos.

@Moocows111111 – the God of War games were at the height of “button mashing combat”, whereas Heavenly Sword had three stances to form really complex and interesting combat. Hopefully God of War III’s combat will be more interesting.
And Heavenly Sword is still up with the best of them – featuring 720p, HDR, 4xAA and 8xAA – GOWIII won’t even come close to those latter two – HS really was a feat on the PS3 and multiplatform titles couldn’t touch it at the time (still better looking than Dante’s Inferno, Darksiders and Bayonetta)

Not the 360 version of Bayonetta XD,
With Heavenly Sword we have 3 stances to use, but you still have to the mash buttons. But Heavenly Sword only looks slighty less then good in the cutscenes, and within the game the textures are flat in alot of areas (Maybe the fact that it was one of the earlier games on the ps3, so it did not use its alot of its power yet).
But Its your opinion I guess, if we both look at an abstract art we will probably see different images, its the preference in art design.

It only looks “bad” if you are playing it on a SD TV. When you look at the level of detail the characters have it’s really mind blowing (Specially facial animation as Patrick well said).

Althought the game Killzone 2 had good graphics, the game was too dark and I thought that took away from the gaming experience. With Uncahrted 2, the graphics and the cinematic scenes are both really great. I think God of War 3 will be on par with Uncharted 2 because they are both great looking games.
