The April 2010 issue of Official PlayStation Magazine is reporting that a PS2 shooter could make a "triumphant comeback" on the PlayStation 3 in 2011.

The comment comes from the magazines 'Rumour Machine' section, where it states:

"One of PS2's most revered squad shooters will be making a triumphant comeback on PS3 sometime next year"

No title for the game is given, leading us to think the guys at OPM know this for a fact. All we can say though, is: start speculating.

Tolkien's Middle Earth saga continues in 2011 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 with the release of Snowblind Studios' action-RPG, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North. Based on events mentioned in the novels and included in Tolkien's annotations, War in the North reveals the full details of a battle few know, but one that helped shape the fight against Sauron.

The first M-rated (17+) Lord of the Rings title, War in the North uses elements of the books and the films. That means you can expect some of the film actors' likenesses (and perhaps voices) as well as elements of Middle Earth never shown in the movies.

Up to three players can join forces online to battle Sauron's army with "interdependent co-op play." Expect some of the staples of RPG gaming, including upgradeable skills, weapons and abilities. Grinding has not been confirmed.

There is a common misconception that continues to flow through the veins of our beloved internet. From website forums to MySpace Group threads, YouTube comments and anything in between, a great number of Xbox 360 owners believe that the Xbox 360 exclusives tend to sell more copies than PlayStation 3 exclusives. We think those same people should change that comment from "Xbox 360 exclusives sell more" to "An Xbox 360 exclusive sold more". In this article, we're going to give readers 5 exclusives (and we mean exclusives, not one console and PC) on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Let's find out just how big this gap really is.

Before we begin, it's obvious to see why people tend to believe the overstated comment. Halo 3 is the best-selling game on the 360, and has yet to be surpassed by neither PS3 nor 360 itself (obviously). There is also the fact that, in most cases, 360 exclusives get to their climax in sales earlier than the PS3 exclusives. Why this matters to people is beyond us. After all, they both reached the same goal eventually, and even close to each other at that.

5. Switching Gears - Both the PS3 and 360 have games with "Gear(s)" in the title. By coincidence, they both happened to do extremely well. Just how well?

Gears of War 2 officially sold over 5 million copies as of May 7th, 2009.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot officially sold over 5 million copies as of August 2009, with 3 million of those within it's first two weeks alone. This is not counting the bundled units, which would take the numbers a good amount further.

Both surpassed 5 million copies within three months of each other. Mind you, this is the second best-selling Xbox 360 game of all time. Just like that, the current best-selling PlayStation 3 game matched a high-profile 360 game with nothing but (somewhat) bad marketing and a hefty console price tag (at the time).

4. The Unexpected - Fable 2, a well-established Xbox franchise, will go up against the PS3 exclusive introduced in this generation, LittleBigPlanet. We were pleasantly surprised by both numbers:

Fable 2 has sold an approximated 3.5 million copies as of last week.

LittleBigPlanet surpassed 3.2 million copies, not including the Game of the Year Edition.

For a set of games that, to us, feel a bit underrated, both games managed to hit great success in sales.

3. Next Best Thing - Halo 3: ODST was a slight improvement to some of the mechanics of the nearly-perfected Halo games to fans and everyday gamers alike. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was head-and-shoulders above any third-person action shooter many of us have ever played (even rivaling MGS4) and was recognized for just that, winning over 150 awards and shattering records along the way. Together, they make two of the top-selling exclusive games on their platform.

ODST sold over 3 million copies

Uncharted 2 sold over 3.5 million copies

Fanboys might be saying "you have to put ODST up with U2? ha! pathetic!" or something of the sort, but the truth is somewhat shocking to us. ODST is the ninth best-selling game on the 360. Take out the multiplatform titles and it becomes the fifth best-selling exclusive on the platform.

2. Best-Selling Racer - The best selling racer on PS3 as of right now is Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. The best selling on 360 is currently Forza Motorsport 2.

GT5: Prologue sold over 4.65 million copies worldwide.

Forza 2 sold just under 4 million copies worldwide.

1. High-Flying Heroes - Crackdown is also one of the most underrated games out there today. People bought Crackdown as a ticket into the Halo 3 Beta, which meant the actual game you bought never really got much attention. Still, Crackdown sold very well and has now earned itself a sequel. inFamous was a superhero game made the way they should be done. Cole was agile, quick and very powerful, no matter what side you were on.

Crackdown sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide.

inFamous sold just under 1.5 million copies worldwide.

Crackdown, the 7th best-selling 360 exclusive, was released back in February of 2007. While inFamous was only released in February of last year, the numbers are still good to see at the rate that they're going.

In conclusion, you'll see that some of the top-selling Xbox 360 exclusives actually sell on par with PlayStation 3 exclusives. The fact that one exclusive surpassed anything else on both platforms doesn't justify the argument. Still, it's great to see these games with the sales they received. For statistical value, we'll be posting the overall ratings for the games mentioned above.

MGS4 VS Gears 2................................................. .....(94 VS 93)
LBP VS Fable 2................................................. .........(95 VS 89)
Uncharted 2 VS ODST.............................................. (96 VS 83)
GT5:P VS Forza 2................................................. ......(80 VS 90)
inFamous VS Crackdown........................................( 85 VS 83)

I was a bit surprised when i read that article, i always thought that 360 exclusives did alot better then ps3 exclusives, i'm guessing this will change more and more since the PS3 keeps selling very well.

Nomura confirms worldmap/airships on worldmap, but doesn't give a percentage done for Versus XIII.

From evil_maki on gamefaqs:

1. Current progress of games you're currently working on, games currently playing and non-gaming hobby?
Nomura: I want to release two games within this year. Just recently finished "Battlefield 2" and started playing "Heavy Rain". For other hobbies, I try to watch all sorts of motion pictures.

2. I would like to know the current progress of Versus 13, Agito 13 and 3rd Birthday, and also when new information will be revealed.
Nomura: Producer Hashimoto isn't letting me.

3. You used to be on Kojima (Hideo)'s net radio for awhile, but how are things between you two now?
Nomura: Sometimes Kojima invite me to lunch.

4. I would like you to start using Twitter.
Nomura: I have... nothing to tweet about.

5. I'm curious over what happened to your consideration over a Dissidia FF sequel!
Nomura: I'll try my best to work on Dissidia FF's sequel!

6. Until of what age do you think you'll be actively working in this job?
Nomura: I haven't thought much about my future.

7. How much percentage of Versus XIII is done so far?
Nomura: Not everything is connected yet; each part of the game is progressing differently. Oh, but we got the airship to fly on the World Map now.

8. You've done all sorts of character designs for FF, KH, Parasite Eve, Subaseka and so on; who is your most favourite?
Nomura: I like all of the characters I created but Sora is the most special because of the many associations he brought to me.
