  • Madden NFL 11 Review 6 CommentsPosted by David Wales on August 12, 2010 under PS3 Reviews, PlayStation 3
In 2005, EA Sports gained an exclusive licensing deal with the NFL and the NFLPA. This move pissed a lot of gamers off and has left a sour taste in the mouth of many. Since then, gamers have been highly critical of not only the franchise, but of everything the company has developed since then. With the yearly release of Madden NFL football a couple days removed, it’s time to fully review one of ... more.
  • Split/Second Review 3 CommentsPosted by Scotty B. on July 19, 2010 under PS3 Reviews, PlayStation 3
After having played the tires off the Split/Second demo, I couldn't have been more enthused for the full version to arrive in my mailbox. Unfortunately for Split/Second, while I was waiting for it to arrive, Blur arrived in its place, shelving Split/Second for a few more weeks while I played out its direct arcade-racer competition. Now, finding time for Split/Second, I'm wondering just what i... more.
  • Singularity Review 3 CommentsPosted by Scotty B. on July 14, 2010 under PS3 Reviews, PlayStation 3
Action/Horror titles would have to be among my absolute favourite game genres. FEAR, Silent Hill, Dead Space (and more) - they have all left very memorable impressions on my gaming history. Original footage and information regarding Singularity, Raven Software's time manipulating game, piqued my interest. And the last game I'd played by Ravensoft was X-Men Origins: Wolverine (a far better g... more.
  • Tiger Woods ‘11 Review 1 CommentsPosted by Scotty B. on July 8, 2010 under PS3 Reviews, PlayStation 3
EA's Tiger Woods franchise is a remarkable game in that it has no significant competitors in the genre. Apart from maybe Hot Shots Golf (Everybody's Golf), there are really no other 'mainstream' golf games to knock it off its pedestal. You would think that this means they could pretty much pump out any crappy old code every year and people would buy it because there's nothing else in the c... more.
  • ModNation Racers Review 7 CommentsPosted by Scotty B. on June 18, 2010 under PS3 Reviews, PlayStation 3
When I heard that the second title in Sony's "Play, Create, Share" series was going to be a kart racer, I was suitably impressed -- hyped even. I was lucky and landed a spot in the ModNation Racers beta. Here, I had an absolute ball with the concept of absolute customisation. The only thing really hindering the game at that point was insanely long load times.  Lost in the myriad of game (and... more.
  • Blur Review 3 CommentsPosted by Scotty B. on June 10, 2010 under PS3 Reviews, PlayStation 3
Since my first foray into gaming at the age of 5, I have always gravitated towards the racing genre. Recently, we have been inundated with all forms of racing titles. Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing, Split/Second: Velocity, ModNation Racers - and now Blur. While PS3 owners missed out on the opportunity of playing the Beta - and didn't even get a demo to base our purchase on, it was a title th... more.

  • Red Dead Redemption Review 5 CommentsPosted by Scotty B. on May 24, 2010 under PS3 Reviews, PlayStation 3
Most of us have some kind of affinity for Westerns. Whether it was growing up watching John Wayne or Clint Eastwood grace the silver screen, or the more modern cowboy adventures, such as Christian Bale & Russel Crowe's 3:10 to Yuma - we've all experienced the straight shootin', tight ropin', hard drinkin' adventures in some form or another. The Wild West has attracted some lacklustre f... more.
  • FIFA World Cup 2010 Review 3 CommentsPosted by David Wales on May 7, 2010 under PS3 Reviews, PlayStation 3
It's been four years since the last World Cup took place and it's finally time again for the world to unite in order to watch one of the greatest sporting events known to man. ESPN has clarified this through commercials with the slogan: "For one month, every four years, we are united." This couldn't be any closer to the truth. This year the World Cup finds its way to South Africa and while it's su... more.
  • Just Cause 2 Review 12 CommentsPosted by Scotty B. on April 7, 2010 under PS3 Reviews, PlayStation 3
There have been some incredible sandbox games in the past. Most of us remember the more familiar, titles with "GTA" prefixing them - and most of us have played them for hours, just mucking about causing trouble and getting sidetracked before even discovering that there's some sort of story and even missions to accompany it all. Avalanche Studios have a new contender to the genre, however. O... more.

  • Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Review 8 CommentsPosted by Scotty B. on March 17, 2010 under PS3 Reviews, PlayStation 3
Once upon a time, I was a hardcore FPS gamer. I literally played nothing else. I gamed at crazy hours so I could get a killer dial-up connection and catch the busy times when the rest of the world was gaming. It was a sickness that lasted for a significant chunk of my pre- and early teen years, only concluding when I finally got off my butt and pursued the female species. When you spend so ... more.
