Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Review
8 CommentsPosted by Scotty D. on March 17, 2010 under Featured Articles, PS3 Reviews, PlayStation 3
Once upon a time, I was a hardcore FPS gamer. I literally played nothing else. I gamed at crazy hours so I could get a killer dial-up connection and catch the busy times when the rest of the world was gaming. It was a sickness that lasted for a significant chunk of my pre- and early teen years, only concluding when I finally got off my butt and pursued the female species. When you spend so ... more. -
Aliens Vs Predator Review

Whether it was watching Ripley mow down hordes of the vile extra-terrestrials, or Arnie and his gang hunted by the cloaked Predator, most of us are more than familiar with the Alien and Predator franchises. In addition to the movies, there have been a number of game adaptations over the years that brought the Aliens and Predators together, in a spin-off storyline loosely connecting them all. ... more. -
Dante’s Inferno Review

The work of Dante Alighieri, his epic poem, The Divine Comedy has seen many adaptations and loosely based story re-workings over the years. None however, have ever really tried to accurately portray the raw and offensive nature of Hell in a video game. Visceral Games have pushed the boundaries of both the classic literature as well as its mature rating. While there are definitely additional act... more. -
Darksiders Review

2010's release schedule has begun with a classic Heaven vs Hell title. Almost embarrassingly, I have to admit that up until a few weeks ago, I hadn't even heard of Darksiders. Checking out a few pictures and reading a couple of preview pieces though and I knew I'd have to at least give this one a look. This fantasy subject matter has always been appealing to me. A big part of my obsession with ... more. -
The Saboteur Review

The Saboteur is the last in the line of Pandemic Studios' gaming catalogue, having been closed and largely swallowed up by Electronic Arts. Its sandbox environment, World War II themed, third person genre promises to deliver a successful swan song for Pandemic, just in time for the holiday season. Check out our gallery for The Saboteur. Story An Irish man by the name of Sean Devlin (loose... more. -
Assassin’s Creed II Review
4 CommentsPosted by Scotty D. on November 19, 2009 under PS3 Reviews, PlayStation 3
The original Assassin's Creed offered up a huge promotional freight train of promises - and while the final product certainly opened our eyes as to what next-gen could be about, it absolutely fell short in the game play department. The action mechanics, the whole concept of assassinations and 'disappearing' into crowds of civilians were well done. The graphics and massive open-world environment im... more. -
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time Review

Insomniac was with the PS3 from day one. If you owned a PS3, you pretty much had Resistance: Fall of Man, or Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction in your game collection. Tools of Destruction, or ToD as it quickly became known, is a standout title, even to this day. And if I'm honest, its absolutely my favourite outing for the Lombax and Robot duo. Numerous play-throughs later, you're left... more. -
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2: Review
2 CommentsPosted by Scotty D. on October 10, 2009 under PlayStation 3
Ninja Gaiden Sigma was a title that summoned many feelings and emotions. Frustration for one, displeasure - another. For the less-than-serious gamer, NGS was a game that took you in, confident, promising you a world of opportunity and experience - but ultimately spat you out, deflated in your ability, a mere shell of your former self, with nothing more than a nervous tick and a pile of smashed Six... more. -
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Review

Marvel Ultimate Alliance will always be a memorable title for me. It was one of the first, proper Marvel games I played on a system that really made me sit back and go "Now that's a good Marvel game". It got the entire Marvel world together. Characters from all Marvel universes amalgamated into one user-chosen team. Suddenly you could put Black Panther in a line-up with Wolverine, Ghost Ride... more. -
Mini Ninjas Review

Mini Ninjas is a title that has undoubtedly slipped through your web of releases unless you were following it very closely. I must admit to having completely disregarded this one originally - it had that appearance of a kids game - like one of those Pixar titles that accompany a new movie and are basically geared towards Trophy collectors or children. Surprisingly, I was completely wrong about ... more. -
Need for Speed: Shift Review
4 CommentsPosted by Scotty D. on September 21, 2009 under PS3 Reviews
The 'Need for Speed' name is synonymous with motor racing games. The original, The Need For Speed - back in 1994 was widely accepted at the time as one of the best racing games around. Seven tracks and nine cars were all you'd get for your money then - but it didn't matter. All your mates were playing it, everyone loved it. Its follow up, Need for Speed II in 1997 made NFS a household name amon... more. -
Dirt 2 Review

I have great memories of Colin McRae: DiRT. It was one of the first titles I picked up when I got the Playstation 3 - and certainly it was one of the first rally racers I'd played in quite a long time that really got me back into proper off-road racing. Good rally games are few and far between these days. Thinking back, it was Rallisport Challenge on the PC that last got me to stay up past midn... more.
